Deccan Odyssey won the award for Asia’s Leading Luxury Train 2016 at the renowned 23rd World Travel Awards, this year. The venue for the award ceremony was Intercontinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort in Vietnam, which was held on 15th October 2016.

One of the leading luxury trains of India, the Deccan Odyssey won this esteemed award after winning a tough competition with some of India’s and the world’s top luxury trains. The other nominees in the category were Eastern & Oriental Express, Maharajas’ Express, Palace on Wheel, and The Golden Chariot.

This well-deserved Indian luxury train is known for offering impeccable hospitality and memorable journeys to its guests from all across the globe. In the past, the train has won in the same categories in the years 2015, 2014, 2012, 2011, and 2010. World Travel Awards (WTA) are known for acknowledging the best travel organizations across the world. Famed as the ‘Oscars of the Travel Industry’, these awards are organized in a grand way to honor those who did ground-breaking work in the travel industry.

Deccan Odyssey, the luxury train comprises a total of 21 coaches. There are air-conditioned 12-passenger cars wherein 8 passengers can be accommodated in a coach (10 passenger / deluxe Cars, 4 coupes per coach – 2 Presidential Suite Cars, 2 coupes per coach).

Then, there are 2 dining cars, 1 entertainment or conference car, 2 staff cars, 1 bar car, 1 spa car, and 2 generator cars with luggage store. Internet access is also provided to the guests.

Some of the other world-class provided on board the Deccan Odyssey include channel music, LCD TV in every cabin, foreign exchange facility, medical assistance, gym, beauty salon, special coach for specially-abled guests can so on. The train can accommodate 88 passengers.

The train offers six pan-Indian journeys namely, Maharashtra Wild Trail, Indian Sojourn, Hidden Treasures of Gujarat, Maharashtra Splendor, Jewels of the Deccan, and Indian Odyssey- a mix of wildlife, special meals, spirituality, sightseeing, cultural performances, amazing activities, etc. Some of the best destinations of India that guests can explore include Mumbai, Udaipur, Goa, Kutch, Sasan Gir, Jaipur, Shirdi, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Vadodara, Patan, Agra, Jodhpur, and Sawai Madhopur.
