Indian Luxury Trains wins big at The 2013 World Travel Awards Grand Final at La Cigale Hotel in Doha, Qatar on 30th November 2013. One of India’s widely recognized Luxury Train, Maharajas’ Express emerged victorious for the consecutive second year in the World’s Leading Train category.

The other nominees in the category included Venice Simplon Orient-Express, Hiram Bingham, Eastern & Oriental Express, Rocky Mountaineer – Gold Leaf Service, Royal Canadian Pacific, The Blue Train, The Golden Chariot, The Queen of Scots Luxury Touring Train, The Indian Maharaja Deccan Odyssey and Andean Explorer.

The glory for Indian luxury trains did not stop at that and another Indian Luxury Train, The Golden Chariot emerged victorious as Asia’s Leading Luxury Train in 2013, beating the three-time consecutive winner in the category, The Indian Maharaja, which is another luxury train from India herself.

The award ceremony in Qatar became witness to major renowned and eminent personalities from the tourism industry, including government ministers from various countries, chiefs of tourism boards of several countries, and CEOs of several leading tours and travel companies. Sheikh Jassim bin Abdulaziz al-Thani and Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad al-Thani, chairperson of Qatar Museums Authority were the chief guests of honor at the event. The awards are decided on the votes given by travel agents from all across the world.

India also made its mark in tourism with an award victory in the World’s Leading Heritage Hotel which went to The Raj Palace, Jaipur. Also, Incredible India became victorious in the World’s Leading Tourist Board category.

All these awards going to India are a major boost to Indian tourism and are a sign of India’s top position in the business. The Indian tourism department is elated with the success and promises to work harder to raise the bar higher than ever before.
