The newest addition to the impressive awards of The Maharajas’ Express is the 2016 Seven Star Luxury Hospitality and Lifestyle Award in the ‘Seven Star Experience Sector’. The world’s most luxurious train, owned and operated by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), was honored at Marbella in Spain. The award was received by IRCTC Chairman and Managing Director Dr. A K Manocha.
As a part of the award, Maharajas’ Express was presented the “Signum Virtutis”, the seal of Excellence, from the Seven Star Luxury Hospitality and Lifestyle Awards. The remarkable award function was held at the Villa Padierna Hotel in Marbella.
Dr Manocha, IRCTC Chairman and Managing Director said “I am thrilled to receive the prestigious award for the Maharajas’ Express. The luxury train is synonymous with royal opulence, top-rate cuisines, and unparalleled hospitality. It is also a testament to the international appeal of the train, which offers to its valued guests an experiential journey into the bygone era of imperial India.”
The 23-coach Maharajas’ Express currently operates on five routes. The journeys are available in choices of 8 Days/ 7 Nights and 4 Days/ 3 Nights itineraries. The itineraries cover destinations like Agra, Jaipur, Ranthambore, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Ajanta, Gwalior, Khajuraho, Varanasi and Lucknow.
The train began its inaugural journey in 2010. The train has also been a winner of the coveted “The World’s Leading Luxury Train” at The World Travel Awards continuously for four years in a row, i.e. in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015.
The Indian Luxury Train is in the league of leading luxury trains of the world, including the Royal Scotsman and the Eastern and Oriental Express. The train scores in several aspects; better menus, cabin experience, excursions, and events organized for guests. The train has spacious cabin sizes, state-of-the-art features with in-room temperature control, an on-board water filtration plant, two bar-cum-lounges, two restaurants, and an on-board team to provide unrivaled hospitality to guests from across the world.
