Palace on Wheels is the brainchild of Indian Railways and Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation. Functioning since 1982, this train has so far introduced the pristine locales of Rajasthan to millions of international guests in the country. Besides Agra and New Delhi, the train also traverses across Jaipur, Sawai Madhopur, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, and Bharatpur. Palace on Wheels is one of the foremost alternatives aboard which one can enjoy traditional Indian hospitality and services.
This regal train in India is housed with 14 luxury salons that accommodate passengers. The elaborately adorned luxury carriages can accommodate up to 104 passengers at a time. Each and every corner of the train reflects a very strong royal inspiration. Tasteful furnishings, lavish decoration, period furniture, and even the distinct hues that have been used throughout the train hint towards this motivation. Each of the centrally air conditioned carriages of the train has been named after the Rajputana states of Rajasthan. Kota, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Kishangarh, Bundi, and Dungarpur are a few of them to be named here.
Besides the passenger coaches, Palace on Wheels is also equipped with a lounge, power cars, restaurants, bars, and a selection of state of the art amenities as well.
